Is the background blurriness even partly artificial?

I bought that lens recently, I have to try something basic like this. :) I got today frustrated trying to capture insects in the picture... too windy :D

Interesting, for it looks almost if using a smudge tool or something but I guess the reason is that there are lots of tiny and evenly distributed bright points in the background that make the effect. :/

Yeah, but in this picture bokeh is so interestingly distributed that it looks like using smudge or something with some 10 pixel steps. :)
