Shooting this kind of photographs isn't easy. Sure, you need the right lens and equipment, but you also need the will to go looking for these things, the vision to see them, and the skills to capture them. The shallow depth of field in this photograph, and the light and colors in the diffuse background, makes these simple, everyday plants strikingly beautiful. The title, the crop and the composition all add another touch to it, and the result is exquisite. If I must find a negative side to this, it must be that it can seem somewhat slight and empty, but the overall impression is saved by the lovely background. All in all, this is a superb photograph.
