This is a beautiful photograph. Although I've seen a lot of medium shutter speed waterscapes on deviantART lately, I haven't seen a lot of square and black & white ones. The texture in the stones is well captured, the water is beautiful in b&w, and the plants in the water does a lot to make this picture come alive. What this shot lacks is some more originality. The composition and technique is irreproachable (except it seems to be slightly askew), but altogether it doesn't leave much of an impact, because I seem to have seen it before. I kind of wish there was some object placed somewhere in the picture to add a certain meaning to it all. This could also have been a magnificent backdrop for a portrait. An old boat on the water, a family of rubber ducks, children playing... something like that would add so much to this picture. Still, like I said, this is definitely beautiful, though it might not be the flagship of this talented artist's portfolio.

Hmmm, this is so unlike you. I'm glad you're open to new horizons and new experiments.

I'm not good at landscape photography, so I'll talk my personal viewer's impression to you. I think, this photo is nice. Not amazingly beautiful, but nice. It has something special and appealing about it, but still looks a little bit "unfocused". I don't mean that it's blurry. I mean it's hard to pick a point to concentrate on: the whole image becomes a story and a viewer cannot pick anything important or interesting from it. Perhaps, you should emphasized something with lighting or composition.

Sorry, if I hurt your feelings. I'm trying to be constructive and helpful :blushes:
